Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has come under criticism on social media following the circulation of an alleged leaked audio recording in which she reportedly laughed during a conversation involving disparaging remarks about fellow actresses Funke Akindele and Iyabo Ojo.

The 12-minute recording, reportedly released by blogger Mama Esabod, has generated reactions online, with some social media users questioning Abraham’s response to comments made about her colleagues during the conversation with a TikTok fan identified as Bisgold.

The audio, which was reportedly conducted mainly in Yoruba and Pidgin English, captured Bisgold repeatedly making insulting remarks about Akindele, while Abraham appeared to listen and laugh rather than challenge the comments, according to accounts of the recording.

The circulation of the audio has fuelled debate among entertainment followers, particularly over the expectations placed on public figures when conversations involve allegations or negative remarks about their colleagues.

Some reactions have focused on whether Abraham’s reported laughter could be interpreted as approval of the comments, while the controversy has also raised questions about the context of the conversation and whether the recording presents the full exchange.

However, the authenticity of the recording, the circumstances under which it was obtained and whether it has been presented in its entirety have not been independently established from the available information.

The reported involvement of Akindele and Ojo has further drawn attention to the controversy, given their prominence in the Nigerian film industry and their established public profiles.

The development also highlights the risks associated with private conversations becoming public, particularly when the people involved are prominent entertainers whose interactions can quickly become subjects of online scrutiny.

Although social media users have continued to debate the recording, the claims surrounding its contents should be distinguished from verified facts. Laughter during a conversation, without the full context, does not by itself establish a speaker’s position on every statement made by another participant.

As of the information available, no verified response from Abraham addressing the recording was provided. The responses of Akindele and Ojo to the controversy were also not established.

The controversy remains centred on the alleged recording and the reactions it has generated, with further clarification from the parties involved needed to establish the context of the exchange.

TheTraffic.ng will continue to follow developments as more verified information becomes available.
