United States President, Donald J. Trump, has commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as decisive leadership in tackling insecurity, particularly violence affecting Christian communities in Nigeria.
In a letter addressed to the Nigerian leader, Trump said he appreciated Tinubu’s commitment to confronting terrorism and strengthening the country, noting that it was an honour for the United States to stand with Nigeria in the fight against extremist groups.
The US President emphasised that relations between both countries remain critical amid rising conflicts across West Africa and other parts of the world. He added that both nations share a common objective of combating terrorism in all its forms.
Trump highlighted the importance of the US-Nigeria 2026 Defence Cooperation Roadmap, describing it as a strong framework for deepening security collaboration between the two countries.
He disclosed that the United States had deployed its Special Operations Forces to support Nigeria’s Armed Forces with training, intelligence and operational tools aimed at improving national security and protecting vulnerable populations.
Reaffirming Washington’s commitment, Trump expressed optimism about continued engagement with Tinubu, saying he looked forward to further discussions during his presidency on strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing security cooperation.
