First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged members of the judiciary’s women forum to uphold transparency and strengthen the rule of law, calling for integrity, accountability, and renewed commitment to justice delivery in support of national reforms.
Speaking at a forum in Abuja, the First Lady said the judiciary remains a critical pillar of democracy and must inspire public confidence through fairness and consistency. She encouraged female judicial officers to lead by example and mentor younger professionals in ethical conduct.
Oluremi Tinubu highlighted the role of women in advancing justice, noting that their perspectives can enhance inclusivity and sensitivity in adjudication. She stressed that timely and transparent decisions are essential to sustaining trust in the legal system.
Participants discussed challenges facing the judiciary, including case backlogs, infrastructure gaps, and the need for continuous training. The forum resolved to deepen collaboration across courts and jurisdictions to improve efficiency and knowledge sharing.

The First Lady also called for stronger safeguards against corruption within the justice system, urging adherence to established codes of conduct. She said reforms aimed at digitisation and case management should be accelerated to reduce delays and improve access to justice.
Representatives of the National Judicial Council reaffirmed their commitment to discipline and oversight, while emphasising ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity. They noted that technology adoption is being scaled to enhance transparency and record-keeping.
Civil society organisations at the event advocated for greater public engagement and awareness of legal rights, particularly for vulnerable groups. They said bridging the gap between the courts and citizens would reinforce confidence in democratic institutions.
Oluremi Tinubu concluded by encouraging continuous dialogue and collaboration, stating that a credible judiciary is essential for economic growth, social stability, and national cohesion. She pledged support for initiatives that promote professionalism and excellence among women in the legal profession.
