Pastor Enoch Adeboye

In a recent sermon that has captured the attention of many online, Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared strong advice for men looking for a life partner.

The religious leader emphasized that when it comes to choosing a wife, certain practical skills should never be ignored, specifically focusing on cooking and hospitality.

During his address, Pastor Adeboye urged men to be very mindful of the qualities they seek in a woman before walking down the aisle. He suggested that domestic abilities play a massive role in the stability and peace of a home.

The Pastor was quite direct in his warning, stating:

“Don’t marry a girl who cannot cook, because if she can’t cook and be hospitable, you’re heading for trouble”.

His message highlights a belief that hospitality is a cornerstone of a successful marriage. According to Adeboye, a lack of these specific skills could lead to significant challenges and trouble within the household later on.

One of the most striking parts of the sermon was Adeboye’s take on spiritual guidance. While many in the faith rely heavily on spiritual confirmation or prophetic declarations when choosing a spouse, the General Overseer advised his followers to use their own personal judgment as well.

He explained that even if a prophet claims a specific woman is the one for a man, the man should still look at the practical side of things.

• His Suggestion: If a prophet identifies a potential wife, the man should say “thank you very much” but still evaluate if the woman possesses the necessary domestic qualities.

• The Goal: To ensure that individuals are not blinded by prophetic words and ignore the daily realities of living together in a marriage.

Pastor Adeboye did not stop at domestic chores; he linked his advice to broader biblical expectations of what makes a good spouse. While the ability to cook was a primary focus, he also noted that other qualities like intelligence and hospitality are vital traits that men should look for.

Adeboye’s message remains clear that marriage requires more than just love or spiritual signs; it requires practical skills and hospitable hearts to thrive.
