Aminu Bello Masari

Former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stay focused on his reform agenda despite mounting criticism, declaring that the administration is already delivering results across key sectors.

Speaking at a high-level gathering of political stakeholders and members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Masari acknowledged that while challenges remain, the government has shown courage and political will in confronting Nigeria’s toughest economic realities. He stressed that the removal of fuel subsidy, though difficult, has set the foundation for restructuring the nation’s economy.

Masari noted that the administration may not be celebrating its achievements loudly enough, insisting that “a lot has been done” since inauguration. He called on political leaders, particularly from the North-West, to embark on tours of projects executed under Tinubu’s leadership to counter what he described as misinformation by opposition figures.

Also speaking, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, said the Tinubu administration is redefining Nigeria’s political landscape through bold reforms and strategic governance. He described the Renewed Hope Ambassadors initiative as a critical platform to communicate government policies and achievements directly to Nigerians at the grassroots.

Anyim warned that the strength of the opposition lies in “orchestrating mischief,” adding that sustained engagement at community level would neutralise false narratives. He noted that since 2025, activities of the ambassadors have gained traction nationwide, driving civic awareness and political mobilisation.

Governors also threw their weight behind the President. Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, commended Tinubu for increasing resource availability to sub-national governments, saying no state can claim to be constrained in delivering its mandate. He praised the President’s courage, noting that successful leadership often attracts envy.

Similarly, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, said the North-West must intensify efforts to secure electoral victories for the ruling party in 2027. While applauding progress in tackling insecurity, he urged deeper grassroots sensitisation to prevent opposition groups from spreading misinformation.

Imo State Governor and coordinator of the Renewed Hope project, Hope Uzodimma, described the initiative as a movement for national renewal. He revealed that structures have been established across local governments and wards, with plans to deploy 50 ambassadors per polling unit to drive voter engagement.

APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, pointed to major infrastructure projects including the AKK gas pipeline and the Sokoto-Badagry superhighway as evidence that economic reforms are yielding tangible results. He expressed confidence that Tinubu’s vision of a $1 trillion economy remains achievable.

The meeting ended with a consensus among party leaders to reorganise, restrategise and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.
