Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a women-led grassroots mobilisation platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), charging members to champion the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration ahead of the next election cycle.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the First Lady described the platform as a strategic vehicle for community engagement, civic participation and national development, emphasizing the critical role of women in driving social and political progress.
She said the Tinubu Torchbearers were established to promote patriotism, service and commitment to a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria while serving as ambassadors of the administration’s policies and programmes at the grassroots level.
“History has consistently shown that women are the backbone of thriving societies,” she said, adding that the platform would help communicate government policies, mobilise communities, encourage civic participation and foster national unity across the country.

Senator Tinubu noted that President Bola Tinubu assumed office with a clear vision of repositioning Nigeria through reforms and strategic interventions in key sectors, including the economy, infrastructure, security, education and social investment.
According to her, the administration has already taken significant steps to strengthen agriculture, support local industries, improve healthcare delivery, create employment opportunities, attract investments and expand economic prospects for citizens.
She urged members of the newly inaugurated platform to communicate the achievements and objectives of the government clearly and responsibly to Nigerians, stressing that sustainable development requires active citizen participation.
“Government alone cannot achieve sustainable development without the support, cooperation and active participation of the people,” she said. “This movement should inspire hope, unity and progress across our beloved nation.”
Representing APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s Deputy National Chairman (South), Benjamin Nwoye, said the initiative aligns with the aspirations of Nigerians who believe in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He described the Tinubu Torchbearers as a platform for grassroots mobilisation, women empowerment, national unity and citizen engagement, while commending President Tinubu for what he termed courageous efforts to address longstanding national challenges.
Nwoye also praised APC women for their loyalty, resilience and contributions to the party’s growth, urging members to carry a message of hope, development and progress to every corner of the country.
APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, highlighted the impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative, describing it as a “weapon of compassion” that has brought government closer to the people through programmes implemented across the country’s 774 local government areas.
Also speaking, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described the platform as a movement dedicated to sustaining a vision that is reshaping Nigeria’s future.
The event attracted senior APC officials, women groups and government representatives, who described the Tinubu Torchbearers as an important vehicle for grassroots mobilisation and public engagement in support of the administration’s programmes and policies.
