Energy stakeholders, regulators and industry operators will gather in Lagos on 23 July 2026 to explore ways of reducing emissions in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector as the country works toward its net-zero target by 2060.

The fifth edition of the annual conference, organised by Oriental News Nigeria, will be held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja. This year’s theme centres on carbon capture and accelerating decarbonisation in Nigeria’s extractive industry through broad regulatory reforms.

The event comes amid ongoing legislative efforts, including a proposed National Decarbonisation Bill that would provide a legal framework to support Nigeria’s climate commitments under the Climate Change Act 2021.

Sahara Group Group Managing Director Kola Adesina is expected to lead discussions, offering perspectives on ongoing reforms and decarbonisation efforts across the energy value chain.

Delegates will examine how operators can balance environmental obligations with business performance, particularly as the industry faces growing pressure to cut greenhouse gas emissions while sustaining energy supply. Emerging technologies including carbon capture, digital tools, and hydrogen adoption are also on the agenda, alongside financing constraints, investment strategies, and climate change management.
