Stakeholders in Nigeria’s maritime sector have called on investors, importers, exporters, and logistics operators to take advantage of the growing transport and logistics capabilities of Warri Port, describing the facility as a strategic gateway for regional and international trade.
The call was made during a visit by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, to the Multipurpose Vessels Terminal (Terminal C) operated by Julius Berger Services Nigeria Limited at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Warri Port in Delta State.
Speaking during the facility tour, the Commercial Manager of the terminal, Mr. Runyon Baldomar, said Warri Port possesses the infrastructure, operational capacity, and security framework required to support increased cargo movement and maritime business activities.
According to him, contrary to misconceptions that the port is inactive, the facility continues to handle vessels and cargoes from key sectors of the economy, particularly the oil and gas industry. He noted that the terminal also provides container logistics services, warehousing, oversized cargo handling, and other maritime support operations.
Baldomar disclosed that the terminal received two vessels in the previous week and is currently servicing another vessel, adding that cargo clearance processes are typically completed within 48 hours to ensure efficient movement of goods.
He acknowledged that global economic challenges, foreign exchange fluctuations, and geopolitical tensions have impacted maritime trade worldwide, but maintained that Warri Port remains strategically positioned to serve businesses across Nigeria’s South-South and South-East regions.
Also speaking, the Head of Clearing at Julius Berger Terminal, Mr. Olise Fidelis, assured investors of robust security arrangements at the port. He said cargoes are monitored by relevant agencies, including the Nigeria Customs Service, while strict adherence to operational and safety standards has helped the facility maintain a zero-accident record.

Another senior official, Mr. Kubo Akpevwe, described Warri Port as a critical transport and logistics hub capable of reducing supply chain bottlenecks, stimulating economic growth, and attracting investment into the Niger Delta region.
He commended the Nigeria Customs Service, Edo/Delta Area Command, for supporting seamless cargo operations and urged maritime stakeholders to take advantage of the port’s modern infrastructure and efficient services.
Similarly, the Terminal Operations Manager, Mr. Inusa Zuberu, reaffirmed that the port is fully operational and equipped to accommodate increased cargo volumes as well as expanded commercial activities.
Industry stakeholders noted that ongoing efforts to reposition Warri Port are aimed at strengthening maritime transport, enhancing regional commerce, creating employment opportunities, and boosting Nigeria’s logistics sector.
