Tinubu, Oyebanji

President Bola Tinubu has described the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as a strong endorsement of continuity, stability and people-focused governance by the electorate.

In a congratulatory message issued shortly after the announcement of the election results, the President said Oyebanji’s victory reflects the confidence of the people in his administration’s policies and developmental strides.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Oyebanji, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the governorship election in the early hours of Sunday, following the conclusion of collation of results across the state.

Tinubu noted that the outcome of the election demonstrates the will of the people of Ekiti State to sustain the progress recorded under Oyebanji’s leadership. He commended voters for their peaceful conduct during the exercise and urged political stakeholders to uphold democratic values.

“The re-election of Governor Oyebanji is a clear vote of confidence in his administration’s commitment to delivering good governance and improving the lives of Ekiti people,” the President stated.

He further emphasized that continuity in governance often allows for the consolidation of ongoing projects and policies, adding that Oyebanji’s renewed mandate would provide an opportunity to deepen reforms in critical sectors such as education, healthcare and infrastructure.

Tinubu also praised the electoral body for ensuring a credible process, as well as security agencies for maintaining order throughout the election period. He encouraged the governor to remain inclusive in his leadership and extend a hand of partnership to opposition parties for the overall development of the state.

Oyebanji’s victory marks a significant moment for the APC, reinforcing its political strength in the South-West region. Political analysts say the outcome could shape future electoral dynamics ahead of upcoming elections in the country.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue working with state governments to advance national development goals, stressing the importance of collaboration between federal and subnational authorities.

He concluded by wishing Governor Oyebanji a successful second term in office, expressing confidence that the governor would build on existing achievements and deliver even greater dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State.
