Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reassured Nigerians that the country will overcome its security challenges, declaring that the Federal Government, security agencies and international partners are working tirelessly to restore peace and stability across the nation.

Speaking on Saturday during her first official visit to Ekiti State, Senator Tinubu told members of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to tackling insecurity and safeguarding citizens.

“We cannot give up on Nigeria,” the First Lady said. “Nigeria is too great to be intimidated. With the efforts of the Federal Government, our security agencies and the support of friendly nations, these challenges will be surmounted.”

She acknowledged the pain and concern caused by insecurity, describing the situation as deeply troubling, but insisted that significant efforts are underway behind the scenes to address the problem.

According to her, several international partners, including the United States and France, are assisting Nigeria in confronting security threats. While noting that some details could not be disclosed due to security considerations, she emphasized that cooperation with foreign allies is strengthening the country’s response to criminal activities and unrest.

“The issues of insecurity are highly disheartening,” she said. “America is helping, France is helping and some other developed countries are helping. Some of the people causing unrest are not Nigerians. There are matters that are highly classified, but I can assure Nigerians that efforts are ongoing.”

The First Lady expressed optimism that the nation’s difficulties would soon come to an end and urged citizens, particularly women, to remain steadfast and prayerful.

She said Nigeria’s abundant resources and natural beauty make it a nation worth preserving and defending, pointing to the peaceful environment and landscape of Ekiti State as an example of the country’s immense potential.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council, Oba Adu Adejimi Alagbado, the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, commended President Tinubu for implementing policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

The monarch expressed confidence in the President’s leadership, recalling his achievements during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State. However, he appealed to the Federal Government to intensify efforts against insecurity, citing incidents of kidnapping and criminal activities affecting Ekiti and other parts of the country.

As part of her visit, Senator Tinubu distributed a N100 million Business Recapitalisation Grant to 2,000 women petty traders in Ekiti State, with each beneficiary receiving N50,000. She said the initiative, implemented through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), is designed to support women-owned businesses, strengthen household incomes and stimulate economic growth.

The First Lady also highlighted several interventions already carried out by the RHI in Ekiti State, including scholarships, bursaries, educational support programmes, environmental initiatives and the distribution of sanitary products to schoolgirls.

She further announced cash rewards totaling N200 million for the best male and female graduating students of Ekiti State University during the commissioning of the TETFund-sponsored ICT Experience Centre.

The visit ended with renewed calls by political leaders and women groups for continued support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji and President Tinubu as preparations for future elections gather momentum.
