The Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) has extended its Food Outreach Programme to Bauchi State, bringing the number of states reached by the intervention to 29 as the initiative expands its support for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable Nigerians.

The food items were formally presented to the wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, for distribution to vulnerable groups across the state.

The intervention is being implemented under the RHI Social Investment Scheme and is part of efforts by the initiative to provide immediate assistance to Nigerians facing economic hardship.

The First Lady of Nigeria and National Chairman of RHI, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, said the organisation remained committed to sustaining food support for vulnerable citizens.

She was represented at the Bauchi presentation by the wife of the Vice-President and National Vice Chairman of RHI, Hajiya Nana Shettima.

Tinubu said the programme had been sustained through the contributions of two donors who provide two truckloads of food items to RHI every month.

She identified the donors as the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) and an anonymous donor, noting that the consignment delivered to Bauchi was provided by the anonymous contributor.

The First Lady expressed appreciation to both donors for supporting the initiative and helping to address food insecurity among vulnerable Nigerians.

The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, described the intervention as a practical demonstration of concern for citizens facing difficult circumstances.

Represented by his deputy, Alhaji Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the governor commended Tinubu for maintaining the initiative and extending its reach to Bauchi.

He said the state government would complement immediate relief efforts with measures designed to improve the long-term economic wellbeing of residents.

According to him, the government would continue to support farmers through agricultural subsidies while expanding economic empowerment and educational programmes.

He stressed that although emergency assistance remained important, the ultimate objective was to enable citizens to become economically self-reliant.

Aisha Bala Mohammed, who is also the Bauchi State Coordinator of RHI, announced additional cash support for beneficiaries.

She explained that the financial assistance would help beneficiaries transport the donated food items to communities and vulnerable groups across the state.

With Bauchi now included, the RHI said its food outreach has reached 28 states and the Federal Capital Territory, making 29 beneficiary locations in total.

Katsina and Akwa Ibom are expected to receive the intervention next as the programme continues its nationwide expansion.

The food outreach is one of RHI’s social intervention programmes supporting the broader Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The initiative places particular emphasis on persons with disabilities and other vulnerable Nigerians, combining immediate relief with efforts aimed at promoting inclusion and improving livelihoods.
