President Bola Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s economy is on a steady growth trajectory, citing ongoing fiscal and structural reforms aimed at stabilising the nation’s finances and boosting investor confidence.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from Deloitte Africa in Abuja, Tinubu said his administration’s reforms are beginning to yield measurable results, particularly in revenue generation, debt management and economic diversification. He noted that improved coordination among government agencies has enhanced efficiency and transparency in public finance.
The President highlighted efforts to widen the tax base, eliminate leakages and strengthen institutions as critical steps toward long-term economic stability. According to him, Nigeria is gradually moving away from dependence on oil revenue, with increased focus on non-oil sectors such as agriculture, technology and manufacturing.
Tinubu urged Deloitte Africa to deepen its collaboration with Nigeria, particularly in areas of investment advisory, youth capacity building and job creation. He stressed the need for partnerships that will empower young Nigerians with relevant skills and open up opportunities in emerging sectors.
“We are laying the foundation for sustainable growth. What we need now is stronger collaboration to unlock the full potential of our economy,” Tinubu said.
He also pointed to improvements in foreign exchange management and ongoing infrastructure development as indicators of economic recovery. The administration, he added, is committed to maintaining policy consistency to attract both local and foreign investors.
Members of the Deloitte delegation commended the government’s reform agenda and expressed readiness to support Nigeria’s economic transformation. They identified key areas such as digital innovation, workforce development and public sector efficiency as opportunities for collaboration.
Economic analysts say while challenges remain, including inflation and unemployment, recent policy measures could support gradual recovery if sustained. They emphasised the importance of continued reforms and stakeholder engagement.
Tinubu reassured Nigerians that his administration remains focused on delivering inclusive growth that will improve living standards and create opportunities across the country.
