Yusuf Buhari has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections, setting his sights on the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.
The declaration was made on Thursday in Daura, where Yusuf confirmed he will run under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His announcement follows a recent meeting with Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, as part of consultations and efforts to secure political backing for his ambition.
Addressing party leaders, supporters, and community stakeholders during the declaration, Yusuf appealed for their support, pledging to deliver effective representation if elected.
“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing. I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support,” he said.
Yusuf, son of former President Muhammadu Buhari, enters the political arena amid growing interest from younger figures within established political families seeking elective positions.
Political observers note that his candidacy could attract significant attention within the constituency, given his family background and the political influence of his father in the region.
The Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency has historically been a stronghold of the APC, and Yusuf’s entry into the race is expected to shape early alignments ahead of party primaries.
His declaration signals the beginning of what may become a closely watched contest as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
