The Renewed Hope Ambassadors and members of the Presidential Communications Team on Wednesday inspected major federal and state government projects in Imo State as part of a nationwide media tour aimed at showcasing infrastructure development and promoting transparency in governance.
The delegation, comprising senior government communication officials and more than 40 journalists, visited strategic projects across the state, including the completed 56-kilometre Okigwe–Owerri Road, the 36-kilometre Owerri–Obowo–Umuahia Road, the ongoing upgrade of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, and the newly upgraded Alvan Ikoku College of Education, now converted to a Federal University of Education.
The team also inspected the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, which has been upgraded to a Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Owerri, as part of efforts to strengthen education and healthcare delivery in the South-East.

The National Media Tour, initiated by the Governor Hope Uzodimma-led Renewed Hope Ambassadors in partnership with the Presidential Media Team, is designed to provide Nigerians with firsthand information on government projects and highlight the impact of ongoing development initiatives across the country.
Speaking during the inspection, Imo State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Mr. Declan Emelumba, said the projects reflected the benefits of collaboration between the Federal Government and the Imo State Government.
Emelumba said the expansion of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport was targeted at transforming the facility into a major logistics and export hub in the South-East, with eight modern warehouses planned for cargo storage and handling.
He explained that the airport project would support agricultural exports, improve commerce and attract investment into the region.
The commissioner attributed the accelerated pace of infrastructure development in the state to the expanded fiscal capacity available to subnational governments following economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
On the upgrade of Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Emelumba described the conversion into a federal university as a historic achievement, noting that successive administrations had attempted to achieve the transformation without success.
He said the upgrade had created employment opportunities for residents, attracted Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) interventions and expanded access to quality education in the state.
Earlier, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties, Mr. Tunde Rahman, praised Governor Uzodimma for aligning with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda through strategic investments in education, healthcare and infrastructure.
Rahman said the projects demonstrated the importance of federal and state governments working together to deliver sustainable development.
He also highlighted the importance of initiatives such as the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which provides financial support for indigent students and helps reduce barriers to education.
Members of the media delegation commended the quality and pace of work on the projects, describing them as visible evidence of the impact of cooperative governance under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
