The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority LAMATA has increased daily trips on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line from 90 to 94 and adjusted the start time for weekday and Saturday operations to 6:00 a.m. as part of efforts to improve commuter experience.

The revised timetable, which takes effect from June 15, was announced by LAMATA’s Head of Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, in a statement issued recently.

According to Ojelabi, the adjustment is aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, reducing waiting times, and meeting the growing demand for the rail service.

Under the new schedule, train services will commence 30 minutes earlier from Monday to Saturday, allowing commuters to begin their journeys ahead of peak road traffic periods. While operations will continue to close at 9:30 p.m., the increase in daily trips is expected to ease platform congestion and improve travel efficiency along the corridor.

The authority also announced an expansion of Sunday services, with trips increasing from 22 to 24. Trains will operate at regular 30-minute intervals, providing passengers with greater predictability and convenience.

LAMATA said the service enhancement reflects rising patronage of the Blue Line since passenger operations began on September 4, 2023. The authority disclosed that the rail system has transported more than six million passengers, highlighting its growing role in improving urban mobility and reducing travel times across Lagos.
