Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has announced plans to broaden support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration beyond Nigeria’s borders with the launch of a Diaspora Arise platform aimed at mobilising young Nigerians abroad ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking through the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Uzodimma said the initiative would officially commence in Toronto, Canada, next month as part of efforts to deepen engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora and encourage their participation in national development.
The governor disclosed that youth coordinators would be appointed across key countries to coordinate activities, promote the administration’s policies and strengthen grassroots mobilisation among Nigerians living overseas.

According to him, the platform is intended to provide an organised structure through which diaspora communities can contribute ideas, investments and advocacy in support of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Uzodimma maintained that young Nigerians abroad possess valuable skills, global experience and professional networks capable of accelerating national development if effectively harnessed.
He said the Renewed Hope Ambassadors would continue expanding their outreach programmes across different regions, noting that the diaspora remains an important stakeholder in Nigeria’s democratic process and economic growth.
The governor stressed that the initiative was not limited to political mobilisation but would also encourage entrepreneurship, innovation, investment and stronger collaboration between Nigerians at home and abroad.
Observers believe the move reflects increasing recognition of the influence of Nigeria’s diaspora community, whose remittances remain among the country’s largest sources of foreign exchange.
Political analysts also note that diaspora engagement has become an important component of modern political campaigns, with digital platforms enabling overseas supporters to participate actively in advocacy, fundraising and policy discussions.
Supporters of the initiative argue that involving more young Nigerians in governance conversations could strengthen civic participation and improve public understanding of government programmes.
However, critics maintain that political mobilisation must be matched by tangible improvements in economic conditions, employment opportunities and infrastructure to sustain public confidence.
The Renewed Hope Ambassadors said preparations for the Toronto launch were progressing, with consultations already underway among Nigerian community leaders and youth organisations.
The organisers expressed confidence that the platform would gradually expand to other cities across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia, creating a global network of supporters committed to promoting the administration’s policies and encouraging greater diaspora participation in Nigeria’s future.
