Former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has been cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest in the party’s senatorial primaries in the state, ending days of uncertainty over his eligibility.
The APC screening committee approved a total of 17 aspirants across the three senatorial districts ahead of the primaries scheduled for Monday, according to party sources.
Bello, whose qualification had been the subject of speculation in recent days, was officially listed among those cleared to contest for the Kogi Central senatorial district ticket.
He is expected to face competition from Momoh Yusuf Obaro and Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke in what observers describe as a closely watched race within the party.

Party officials said the screening process was conducted in line with APC guidelines to ensure that only eligible aspirants participate in the primaries. However, details of the criteria used for the clearance were not immediately disclosed.
Political analysts note that Bello’s participation could significantly influence the dynamics of the Kogi Central contest, given his political structure and influence in the state.
The APC primaries are expected to shape the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections, as stakeholders across the districts prepare for competitive contests.
The development underscores increasing political activity in Kogi State, with parties intensifying internal processes ahead of the next electoral cycle.
