Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has visited the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, expressing appreciation for his support and guidance to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking at the Sultan’s palace in Sokoto, the First Lady said the visit was to thank the monarch, whom she described as a steady voice of counsel helping to steer the government in the right direction.
She also reflected on the long-standing relationship between their families, noting the Sultan’s consistent role in offering direction on national issues.
In his remarks, the Sultan called for prayers and divine intervention for Nigeria, urging those involved in violence to repent and embrace peace. He commended the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative for positively impacting millions of Nigerians.

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, described the initiative as people-focused, targeting women, youth and vulnerable groups, while thanking the First Lady for the visit.
The Sultan later urged Islamic clerics to offer prayers for the nation, its leaders and peace across the country.
