Nollywood actor Jimmy Rolland has revealed that his marriage ended after he discovered that his former wife had allegedly concealed important details about her past before they tied the knot.

The actor made the disclosure during an appearance on the African A-List Podcast, where he reflected on his failed marriage, the circumstances leading to the union, and the challenges he faced following the separation.

Rolland said he entered the marriage believing his then-partner had been truthful with him, only to later discover information that, according to him, had been withheld during their courtship.

He disclosed that he dated his former wife for four years before they eventually got married, adding that he ignored repeated warnings from family members and close associates who had expressed reservations about the relationship.

According to the actor, his mother and some of his friends advised him not to proceed with the marriage after seeking spiritual guidance, but he chose to follow his heart instead.

Rolland said he was convinced at the time that his partner was honest and that their relationship would overcome any challenges.

Looking back, he admitted that he regretted overlooking the concerns raised by those closest to him, saying the experience taught him valuable lessons about relationships and the importance of transparency before marriage.

The actor maintained that honesty is essential for building trust between couples and said withholding significant information from a partner can undermine the foundation of a marriage.

Although he did not disclose the specific details he claimed were hidden from him, Rolland said the revelations had a profound impact on their relationship and ultimately contributed to the collapse of the marriage.

He also spoke about the emotional toll of the separation, noting that recovering from a failed marriage was difficult but had strengthened his outlook on life and relationships.

The actor encouraged intending couples to engage in open and sincere conversations before marriage, stressing that trust and truthfulness remain critical to sustaining a successful union.

Rolland’s comments have sparked conversations on social media, with many users debating the importance of honesty, premarital counseling and compatibility in marriage.

The Nollywood star joins a growing list of entertainers who have publicly shared personal experiences in an effort to encourage dialogue on relationships, marriage and the challenges couples often face behind closed doors.
