The Nigerian senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have lined up a double-header international friendly against the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal during the upcoming June FIFA women’s international window.

The matches are a critical part of the team’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) holding in Morocco.

According to updates confirmed on X by the Super Falcons Show, the 10-time African champions will host Senegal on June 5 and 8 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

“Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, will take on Senegal Women’s National Team in a double-header international friendly scheduled for June 5 and 8. Both matches will be played in Ikenne, Nigeria,” the post read.

These fixtures come on the heels of a canceled training tour in the United Kingdom, which initially included a high-profile friendly against Jamaica.

The UK tour was scrapped due to scheduling complications tied to FIFA’s official women’s international window, which meant European clubs would not have been obligated to release their players for the fixtures.

With the UK tour shelved, the upcoming matches against Senegal will provide a valuable opportunity for head coach Justine Madugu and his technical crew to assess their squad depth, experiment with tactical setups, and build team cohesion. Senegal’s physical style and organized play are expected to present a robust regional challenge for the Nigerian side over the two games.

The friendlies are not only a tune-up for July’s WAFCON but also a stepping stone for the team’s long-term objective of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The Super Falcons are determined to fine-tune their preparations as they look to reclaim their dominance and pursue another continental crown.
