Victor Osimhen

Nigerian forwards, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Kelechi Iheanacho delivered spectacular performances this weekend, all finding the back of the net to secure crucial victories for their respective clubs across Europe.

In the Turkish Süper Lig, Victor Osimhen continued his blistering start to the season, inspiring Galatasaray to a hard-fought 3-2 comeback victory over Göztepe.

The defending champions were stunned early when Novatus Miroshi put the visitors ahead in the 16th minute. However, Galatasaray responded emphatically. After Colombian defender Davinson Sánchez leveled the score, Osimhen took charge. The Nigerian talisman set up Gabriel Sara to give the hosts a 2-1 lead, before confidently converting a 63rd-minute penalty to make it 3-1.

Although Göztepe managed a late consolation goal, Galatasaray held firm to claim all three points. Osimhen’s strike took his season tally to an impressive five goals in just three league matches, propelling his side to the top of the table.

Over in Spain, Ademola Lookman marked his impact this season with his first goal for Atlético Madrid in a commanding 3-1 triumph over Sevilla.

After teammate Álex Baena opened the scoring for the hosts, Lookman doubled the advantage in the 33rd minute. The dynamic forward’s clinical finish showcased his attacking prowess and helped Diego Simeone’s men secure a convincing La Liga victory to maintain their strong start to the campaign.

Meanwhile, in Turkey’s second division, Kelechi Iheanacho extended his remarkable run of form for Bursaspor. The veteran forward registered a goal and an assist in a solid victory against Kayserispor.

Iheanacho has now scored or assisted in every match he has played this term. Having previously netted against Karagümrük and Igdir FK, and provided an assist against Bodrum FK, his weekend heroics bring his impressive tally to six goal involvements in just four appearances.
