Governor Dapo Abiodun says his administration’s “Firsts” initiative is accelerating Ogun State’s transition into a globally connected hub, driven by infrastructure expansion, rising investment inflows, and improved aviation access.
At a policy briefing in Abeokuta, Abiodun outlined milestones achieved under the programme, including upgrades to transport networks, industrial corridors, and logistics systems. He said the strategy focuses on delivering landmark projects that redefine the state’s economic profile.
The governor highlighted progress in aviation access and connectivity, noting that improved linkages are attracting investors and easing movement of goods and people. He added that partnerships with the private sector have been critical in financing and executing key projects.
According to the state government, industrial estates are being expanded and modernised to support manufacturing and export-oriented businesses. Power and road infrastructure upgrades are also underway to reduce production costs and enhance competitiveness.

Abiodun said the “Firsts” agenda is anchored on creating an enabling environment for business, with streamlined approvals and targeted incentives. He noted that Ogun’s proximity to Lagos remains a strategic advantage, now complemented by better infrastructure and policy support.
Stakeholders in the business community welcomed the developments, citing improved logistics and investor confidence. However, they called for sustained maintenance of infrastructure and continuous skills development to meet industry demands.
The governor reiterated his commitment to inclusive growth, stating that job creation and local enterprise development remain central objectives. He said ongoing projects would deliver long-term benefits, positioning Ogun as a preferred destination for regional and international investors.
Abiodun added that the state will continue to pursue innovation and partnerships to deepen global engagement, ensuring that infrastructure gains translate into measurable improvements in livelihoods and economic output.
