Newly appointed Real Madrid manager, José Mourinho, has reportedly identified 2023 Africa Player of the Year Victor Osimhen as a primary summer transfer target as he begins his second stint at the Santiago Bernabéu.
According to Turkish football commentator Ertem Şener, speaking via the outlet habersarikirmizi.com, the Portuguese tactician has specifically requested the Super Eagles striker.
Furthermore, Şener suggested that the financial figures being discussed perfectly align with Real Madrid’s current transfer budget and Galatasaray’s premium valuation of the player.

“I think there’s a possibility Osimhen might leave Galatasaray. I heard Mourinho wants Osimhen at Real Madrid,” Şener stated.
“Florentino Perez said during the election, ‘I’ve agreed a deal with a player for 150 million Euros.’ Galatasaray is also asking for that amount for Osimhen. I’m asking the Galatasaray fans here. Florentino Perez sent 150 million euros and said, ‘I’m buying Victor Osimhen,’ what do you say?” he added.
A move at the reported €150 million valuation would rank among the most expensive transfers in football history. It would also mark a historic milestone, making Osimhen the first-ever Super Eagles player to represent Los Blancos.
The striker is coming off a spectacular season on loan at Galatasaray, where he fired the club to the Turkish Süper Lig title.
During his dominant 2025/26 campaign, Osimhen recorded 15 goals and five assists in 22 league appearances, while also making a massive impact in the UEFA Champions League with seven goals and three assists.
These stellar performances have inevitably put him on the radar of several European heavyweights.
If Real Madrid wishes to secure his signature, they will have to fend off intense competition from other elite clubs across the continent, including Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Mourinho recently returned to the Spanish capital, signing a three-year contract running until June 2029. He is tasked with reviving a club that has endured a difficult spell, going two
consecutive seasons without a major trophy and finishing behind bitter rivals Barcelona in La Liga last term. During his previous stint at the club between 2010 and 2013, Mourinho delivered the 2011/12 La Liga title with a record 100 points, alongside a Copa del Rey and a Spanish Super Cup.
Tactically, Osimhen fits Mourinho’s preferred system perfectly. Throughout his managerial career, the Portuguese coach has built his most successful teams around powerful, mobile center-forwards, most notably Didier Drogba and Diego Costa during his tenure at Chelsea.
Osimhen’s unique combination of explosive pace, physical strength, aerial dominance, and relentless pressing mirrors the exact profile Mourinho consistently demands from his attacking talisman.
