In a decisive legal victory, Samson Davies and a co-applicant have obtained a sweeping interlocutory injunction from the Zamfara State High Court, freezing over N1.45 billion in disputed funds.

The order, delivered on May 6, 2026, by Hon. Justice Mukhtar Yushau, restrains the 3rd Respondent and its affiliates from releasing, transferring, or dissipating the sum of N1,450,287,277.96 standing to the credit of the 1st and 2nd Defendants, pending the final determination of suit No. ZMS/GS/3/2025.

The ruling marks a critical milestone for Samson Davies, who, alongside his co‑applicant, moved the Court to preserve the res at the heart of the financial dispute. The injunction explicitly bars the 3rd Respondent its agents, servants, officers, privies, or assigns from any dealing with the specified funds, while also ordering the 1st and 2nd Defendants to restore any monies already transferred or dissipated during the pendency of the suit, including those moved to affiliate accounts with the 3rd Respondent.

The Court, however, clarified that any amounts beyond the frozen sum may lawfully be utilised by the defendants, leaving their broader operations unaffected. This balanced approach underscores the judiciary’s commitment to protecting litigants’ interests without unduly hampering legitimate business activities.

Legal representation saw Julius Anthony Esq. appear for Samson Davies and his co‑applicant, with Jamilu Shafa Esq. assisting, while Bello Umar Esq. held the brief of Hayatuddeen Sulaiman for the 1st and 2nd Defendants. J.C. Eze Esq. represented the 3rd Respondent, whose custody of the contested funds is central to the case.

The Certified True Copy of the order, signed by Abubakar Ibrahim, Principal Registrar, confirms that the application succeeded. For Samson Davies, this interlocutory relief provides immediate protection of substantial assets and sets the stage for a full adjudication on the merits. As the substantive suit progresses, all eyes remain on the Gusau Judicial Division for what promises to be a landmark determination in commercial litigation.
