Chukwueze, who currently plays club football in Europe and remains one of Nigeria’s most celebrated footballers, expressed support for initiatives aimed at nurturing young talents. He praised the state government’s commitment to sports development and encouraged greater investment in grassroots programmes.

The football star said many young Nigerians possess exceptional talent but often lack access to quality facilities and training opportunities. He expressed optimism that the Stadium City project could help bridge that gap and inspire future generations.

Officials familiar with the project said plans include modern sports facilities, commercial centres, hospitality infrastructure, and recreational spaces. They added that the development is expected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity.

Sports stakeholders welcomed the collaboration between government and private-sector partners, describing it as a positive step toward revitalizing sports infrastructure in the state.

Community leaders also praised the initiative, saying it could enhance Umuahia’s profile as a destination for sporting events and youth development programmes.

Analysts noted that investment in sports infrastructure has increasingly become a strategy for economic diversification and urban renewal in several parts of the country.

With consultations and planning efforts continuing, stakeholders expressed optimism that the Stadium City vision could transform Umuahia into a leading centre for sports and entertainment while providing lasting benefits for residents and aspiring athletes.
