Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the First Lady commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its unwavering commitment to serving humanity without discrimination, saying the organisation has remained a beacon of hope for victims of disasters, conflicts and other humanitarian emergencies.

She praised the organisation’s enduring commitment to alleviating human suffering, noting that its influence extends beyond Nigeria through its humanitarian interventions and partnerships.
“The influence of the activities of the Red Cross Society extends far beyond our shores. Whether providing first aid, responding to disasters, supporting victims of conflict, promoting health and well-being, or providing humanitarian assistance to communities in need, the Society has remained steadfast in its mission of serving humanity without discrimination,” she added.
Earlier in the ceremony, the First Lady was decorated as the Grand Matron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society in recognition of her support for humanitarian causes and social development initiatives.
Accepting the honour, she expressed appreciation to the Society and paid tribute to its leadership, staff, partners and thousands of volunteers working across the country.
“Your selfless service continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals and families,” she said, applauding their sacrifice and dedication despite the challenges associated with humanitarian work.
As part of the inauguration activities, Senator Tinubu toured the newly completed headquarters, including the Incident Room, where she received a briefing on the Society’s fully digitised emergency response and operational systems designed to improve coordination during humanitarian crises.
In separate remarks, President of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, and the Head of Country Cluster for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Doris El-Doueihy, commended the Federal Government’s efforts to address humanitarian challenges across the country.
They reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Red Cross Society and its international partners to supporting government initiatives and expanding humanitarian interventions aimed at improving the welfare of communities affected by disasters, conflicts and other emergencies.
