Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to maintain strict neutrality and accelerate digital transformation to meet global compliance standards.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Shettima emphasised the importance of transparency and accountability in public service, noting that the CCB plays a critical role in upholding ethical governance.
He urged the bureau to adopt advanced digital systems for asset declaration and monitoring, aligning Nigeria with international best practices. According to him, digitisation would not only enhance efficiency but also reduce corruption risks associated with manual processes.
The Vice President stressed that neutrality is essential for the credibility of the institution, particularly in a politically charged environment. He warned against any perception of bias that could undermine public trust.

Officials of the CCB acknowledged ongoing reforms within the agency, including plans to introduce an online asset declaration platform and data integration with other government bodies.
Experts believe that digital compliance systems could significantly improve Nigeria’s standing in global anti-corruption rankings, attracting investors who prioritise governance standards.
Civil society groups have long advocated for greater transparency in asset declarations, arguing that public access to such information would strengthen accountability.
Shettima reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to institutional reforms, stating that technology-driven governance is key to achieving sustainable development.
The call comes as Nigeria seeks to align its regulatory frameworks with international norms, particularly in the areas of financial transparency and anti-money laundering.
