Blue Lagos Initiatives has secured a strategic partnership with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) to expand access to healthcare services in Lagos State’s riverine and coastal communities through the deployment of a Telemedicine Scheme.
The partnership was formalised during a meeting between a Blue Lagos delegation led by its Convener, Mr. Saheed Adesanya, and the management team of LASHMA, led by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba. Discussions focused on innovative approaches to healthcare delivery and improving access to essential medical services for underserved populations across the state.
Under the proposed arrangement, telemedicine services will be rolled out across 152 riverine and coastal communities, allowing residents to consult healthcare professionals remotely and access medical advice, referrals, follow-up care, and other critical health services without the constraints of distance and transportation challenges.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Adesanya described the initiative as a significant milestone in efforts to improve healthcare outcomes and quality of life in Lagos’ coastal and riverine settlements.
“Healthcare remains a fundamental need for every citizen. This partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to ensuring that residents of riverine and coastal communities are not left behind in accessing quality healthcare services. Through technology-driven solutions, we can bridge existing gaps and bring healthcare closer to the people,” he said.

Dr. Zamba reaffirmed LASHMA’s commitment to expanding healthcare access and supporting initiatives that advance universal health coverage in Lagos State. She stressed the importance of leveraging technology and strategic partnerships to reach vulnerable and hard-to-reach communities.
According to both organisations, the Telemedicine Scheme is expected to improve healthcare outcomes, reduce barriers to medical consultations, encourage preventive healthcare practices, and provide thousands of residents with easier access to professional medical support.
The partners also agreed to continue discussions on implementation strategies, community sensitisation, stakeholder engagement, and partnership frameworks to ensure the successful rollout and sustainability of the programme.
The initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s broader vision of promoting inclusive development and improving the quality of life of residents regardless of their geographical location.
Blue Lagos said it remains committed to working with government agencies, private sector organisations, and community stakeholders to drive sustainable development and support the growth of Lagos State’s blue economy.
