Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday officially submitted the nomination and expression of interest forms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

The submission marks the formal commencement of Tinubu’s bid for a second four-year term under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Shettima, widely regarded within the party as one of Tinubu’s closest political allies, arrived at the venue alongside several APC leaders and political stakeholders.

He was received by a delegation of party chieftains, including Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, state governors, lawmakers, and other senior party officials.

The gathering underscored the growing mobilisation within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders reaffirming support for Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

Observers at the venue described Shettima’s role in the submission process as another sign of the strong political partnership between the president and his deputy, which has remained central to the administration since assuming office in 2023.

Tinubu and Shettima won the 2023 presidential election with over eight million votes, defeating opposition candidates across the country.

Thursday’s development is expected to signal the beginning of wider political consultations and campaign activities within the ruling party as preparations intensify for the next election cycle.

Party supporters at the venue expressed confidence that the APC ticket would retain broad national backing heading into 2027.
