The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has intensified efforts to promote road safety and emergency preparedness through the training of National Assembly Special Marshals at the National Assembly Library Complex in Abuja.
The training programme, organized by the FRSC delegation led by the FCT Sector Commander, CC Tijani Iliyasu, marked the official establishment of the National Assembly Special Marshals, a volunteer corps aimed at supporting road safety advocacy and traffic management within and around the National Assembly environment.
Speaking during the event, the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library, Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, commended the FRSC for partnering with the institution to strengthen safety consciousness among staff and stakeholders.
According to him, the initiative aligns with efforts to build a safer and more responsible community through education, discipline and civic engagement.
The training focused on key areas including road safety awareness, defensive driving techniques, pedestrian rights, emergency response procedures, first-aid administration, crisis management and adherence to traffic regulations.
FRSC officials noted that the programme is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to serve as safety ambassadors, promote compliance with traffic laws and assist in emergency situations when necessary.
