President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart as Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), replacing Ibrahim Olanrewaju who resigned to contest an elective office.
The appointment, announced by the Presidency, takes immediate effect.
Olanrewaju-Smart, a scholar and policy expert, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Intergovernmental Affairs since October 2023. His experience spans key legislative roles, including Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th and 10th Assemblies.
He holds a PhD in Educational Management from Lead City University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, where he was an Edward Mason Fellow.

The 40-year-old has also undertaken policy and research roles at institutions including Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Quantum Alliance AI, focusing on civic technology and governance.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that the new adviser will strengthen coordination between the Presidency, ministries, departments and agencies, and the House of Representatives.
