Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji is making a significant return with a main role in the new thriller series, Wahala, produced by BBC Studios after nearly eight years away from acting.
The popular actress last appeared on screen in the 2018 movie Lionheart and will take on an important role in this six-episode drama inspired by the novel written by BAFTA-nominated author Theresa Ikoko.
Produced by BBC Studios under its Firebird Pictures division, the series will debut on BBC One and be available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
The cast features talented actors such as Adelayo Adedayo, Deborah Ayorinde, Cush Jumbo, and Susan Wokoma.

This exciting story is based on ‘Wahala’ by Nikki May and follows four Nigerian-British women living in London as they confront hidden secrets, complex friendships, and troubling memories that begin to emerge.
Nnaji shared her enthusiasm about returning to acting, calling the project both thrilling and highly engaging.
“I am really excited to join Wahala and work with such a talented team. The story is fascinating, and I can’t wait to be involved,” she stated.
Executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff also expressed her confidence in the series, praising the impressive cast lineup.
“We are excited to share our incredible cast for Wahala and can’t wait to watch them bring these great characters to life,” she said.
Nnaji’s return is generating excitement among fans, especially since she has been absent from acting since her directorial debut in Lionheart, which became one of the most talked-about films from Nigeria around the globe.
