Galatasaray manager, Okan Buruk, has highly praised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, labeling him a “dream” signing following a stellar season that helped secure the Turkish club’s latest Super Lig title.
However, as the 27-year old’s profile continues to soar, European heavyweights like Chelsea have reportedly joined the race to secure his signature this summer.
Osimhen enjoyed one of the most prolific campaigns in the club’s recent history, netting 22 goals across all competitions.
His domestic form was particularly outstanding, yielding 15 goals in just 20 league appearances. He further cemented his legacy with a crucial brace during Galatasaray’s 4-1 victory over Antalyaspor, which officially clinched the league title for the Turkish giants.

According to Buruk, Osimhen’s impact extended far beyond his goalscoring abilities.
“Victor is a team player, not just a striker who scores goals. He was a dream for Galatasaray. We paid €75 million. It’s the first time a Turkish team has paid such a price. It’s a record, and we spent all our money on him,” Buruk stated, acknowledging the massive financial investment the club made to bring the striker in.
He further emphasized the Nigerian’s work ethic and overall contribution to the squad:
“Osimhen works hard, scores, and assists. He plays for the team, not just for goals and assists. When we all play with this mentality, no one can stop us,” he added.
Despite Galatasaray’s desire to keep their star forward, Osimhen has become one of the most sought-after properties in European football as the summer transfer window approaches.
According to reports by TEAMtalk, Chelsea is actively monitoring his situation. The striker’s camp and intermediaries are reportedly engaging in discussions with several elite clubs regarding a potential blockbuster transfer.
While the profiles of the 27-year-old have also been presented to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, Chelsea has maintained a long-standing interest.
The Blues believe that the recent appointment of Xabi Alonso as their new manager will be a significant draw, confident that his reputation can lure elite talents like Osimhen to Stamford Bridge despite the club’s current lack of Champions League football.
Galatasaray remains determined to retain Osimhen’s services, but reports indicate that the Turkish club would demand an astronomical fee of around £87 million before even considering letting him leave.
