Doma United FC

Doma United FC kicked off their Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Four campaign on a winning note after edging Inter Lagos 1-0 in a tightly contested opener on Monday in Ikenne, with defender Adam Sinbad emerging as the standout performer.

Sinbad delivered a commanding display at the heart of Doma United’s defence, earning the Man of the Match award after leading a disciplined backline that withstood sustained pressure from a determined Inter Lagos side. Despite waves of attacking play from the Lagos-based team, Doma United held firm to secure all three points in the crucial opening fixture.

The decisive goal, which ultimately separated both sides, ensured Doma United took early control in the race for the Super Four title, widely regarded as a defining stage in the NNL season.

Speaking after the match, an emotional Sinbad dedicated his individual accolade to his mother and the club’s leadership, highlighting their roles in his development.

“Words cannot express how happy I am to pick up this award. I’m dedicating it to my mother, who has always been there for me, and to our chairman for his effort in taking my career to the next level,” he said.

The defender, however, shifted focus quickly to the team’s broader objective, emphasizing that the victory was more important than personal recognition.

“The most important thing is the victory we achieved today. We are here in Ikenne to win the title, and we will keep pushing to make that happen,” he added.

Inter Lagos, who dominated spells of the encounter, were left to rue missed chances as they failed to break down Doma United’s resolute defence. Their inability to convert attacking opportunities proved costly in a game where margins were slim.

With the win, Doma United secure an early advantage in the Super Four standings and will look to build on the momentum when they face Sporting Lagos in their next fixture on Wednesday, May 6.

As the competition intensifies, the victory places Doma United firmly in contention for the 2025/2026 NNL title, while Inter Lagos must regroup quickly to keep their hopes alive in the remaining matches.
