Okojie

Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie, husband of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson, has secured the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest for the Esan North-East/South-East federal constituency seat in the 2027 general election.

Okojie confirmed his emergence as the party’s candidate in a statement issued after the APC primary election, expressing gratitude to party leaders and stakeholders for their support throughout the process.

He specifically thanked Monday Okpebholo and the APC leadership for what he described as the confidence reposed in him to represent the party in the forthcoming election.

“Today, I am deeply humbled and honored to emerge victorious in the APC primary election,” Okojie said. “I sincerely thank the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Sen. Monday Okpebholo, and our great party, the APC, for the confidence reposed in me to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming election to return to the National Assembly.”

He also extended appreciation to party faithful, leaders, and constituents across the constituency, noting that their support and encouragement played a key role in his emergence.

Political observers say Okojie’s victory positions him as a strong contender in the 2027 race, as parties begin early alignments ahead of the general elections. Analysts also note that his growing political profile, combined with grassroots backing, could shape the dynamics of the contest in Esan North-East/South-East.

The APC is expected to consolidate its structures in the constituency as it prepares for the general election, with Okojie’s candidacy seen as part of broader efforts to retain and strengthen its hold in Edo State.

The development marks an early milestone in the buildup to 2027, as political activities gradually intensify across the country.
