Shettima

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing him as a trusted partner whose loyalty, courage and commitment to national development have contributed significantly to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Tinubu, in a birthday message issued on Tuesday, September 1, said Shettima’s 60th anniversary provided an opportunity to celebrate his years of public service, including his tenure as Governor of Borno State and his current role as Vice President of Nigeria.

The President congratulated Shettima’s wife, Nana, his children, family members and political associates on the milestone.

He described the Vice President as “a patriot” whose life had been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice for worthy causes.

Tinubu also praised Shettima’s career in banking before his entry into politics, noting that his record of service to Borno State and Nigeria reflected his commitment to improving the lives of citizens.

According to the President, Shettima has demonstrated courage, diligence and compassion in his various responsibilities, while remaining committed to Nigeria’s unity and progress.

Tinubu particularly commended the Vice President for his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and his support for the administration’s policies and programmes.

He said Shettima’s contribution as Chairman of the National Economic Council had been important to the coordination of economic policies and strengthening collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments.

The President also highlighted Shettima’s respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, dialogue and consultation, describing these qualities as valuable to effective governance.

“As a trusted partner, his loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration,” Tinubu said.

The President thanked Shettima for his steadfast support and partnership as the administration continues its efforts to fulfil its promises to Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Tinubu expressed confidence that the partnership between himself and Shettima would continue to produce meaningful progress in the country’s development.

He also offered prayers for the Vice President’s continued guidance, protection, strength, wisdom and good health.

“May Munificent Allah grant him wisdom and good health, and bless him with many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria,” the President said.

Shettima, who was born on September 2, 1966, served as Governor of Borno State from 2011 to 2015 before becoming Tinubu’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

He assumed office as Vice President on May 29, 2023, alongside Tinubu, and has since played a prominent role in coordinating several aspects of the Federal Government’s economic and development programmes.
