Former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has ridiculed leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and their supporters for criticizing Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso following their exit from the party.

Sani said it was ironic that the same ADC figures who once welcomed and celebrated Obi and Kwankwaso are now leading attacks against them after their departure. He described the backlash as predictable, noting that political loyalty in Nigeria often shifts with changing interests.

The former senator, who represented Kaduna Central, argued that defections are a common feature of the country’s political landscape and should not attract excessive outrage. According to him, those criticizing the two politicians would likely have reacted differently if the situation were reversed.

His remarks come amid growing tensions within the ADC, as party leaders and supporters continue to express disappointment over the exit of the two high-profile figures. Obi and Kwankwaso’s departures have sparked debates about internal party cohesion and the broader dynamics ahead of future elections.

Neither Obi nor Kwankwaso has publicly responded to the latest criticisms, but their moves are widely seen as part of ongoing political realignments across party lines.
