The Presidential Media Team and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors on Thursday inspected major Federal Government and Benue State infrastructure projects, with residents applauding President Bola Tinubu’s administration for expanding road connectivity and pledging support for his re-election bid in 2027.
The inspection tour covered the ongoing Buruku-Logo Bridge, the Wurukum Overhead Bridge in Makurdi, the 22-kilometre Makurdi-Gboko Road, the High-Level Roundabout Interchange in Makurdi and the Gboko Underpass and Interchange, all aimed at easing transportation, boosting commerce and improving regional integration.
Leading the delegation of more than 40 editors and journalists was the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said the projects reflected the administration’s commitment to using borrowed funds for productive infrastructure that delivers tangible benefits to Nigerians.
According to him, the 1,754-metre Buruku-Logo Bridge is one of five Federal Government bridges currently under construction in Benue State and will reconnect communities separated by the River Benue while opening economic opportunities across Benue, Taraba and Adamawa states.

He said the bridge would shorten travel time, improve access to markets for farmers and stimulate commercial activities by linking rural communities with major urban centres.
Onanuga added that the projects are financed through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund and assured that adequate funding had been provided to ensure timely completion.
The delegation also visited the ongoing 25.6-kilometre Captain Dan Road from Lubona Junction to the Tor Tiv Palace, Food Basket Brewery Limited in Makurdi and the Federal Government-funded rehabilitation of the Buruku-Gboko Water Treatment Plant at Ameladu Headworks, one of the state’s largest water infrastructure facilities.
The Makurdi-Gboko Road, inspected during the visit, forms part of Phase II of the Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi Expressway, a strategic transport corridor linking North-Central Nigeria with the South-East. The project is scheduled for completion by December 2027.
Residents of Buruku and surrounding communities welcomed the bridge project, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that would eliminate dangerous river crossings, reduce boat accidents during the rainy season and improve access to healthcare, education and markets.
Many also praised the employment opportunities created by the construction project, noting that dozens of youths from host communities had been engaged by the contractor.
Benue State Deputy Governor, Dr. Samuel Ode, commended the Federal Government for responding to the state’s infrastructure needs, particularly the construction of the Wurukum Overhead Bridge.
He said the project would permanently address chronic traffic congestion along the busy Abuja-Lafia-Makurdi-Enugu highway, especially during festive periods.
Ode explained that President Tinubu approved the project following a request by Governor Hyacinth Alia, adding that work was progressing rapidly.
He also highlighted the state government’s Makurdi Central Interchange and Underpass as a complementary project designed to improve traffic flow, strengthen connectivity within the state capital and support economic development.
The inspection formed part of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ National Media Tour, an initiative established to independently assess and document the implementation and impact of key infrastructure projects under the Tinubu administration across the country.
