First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged women in the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, declaring that the country is entering a period of prosperity after enduring the difficult phase of economic reforms.
She made the appeal on Saturday at the South-East All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Presidential Rally in Enugu, where she assured supporters that the President would sustain efforts to transform the country.
Addressing the gathering, the First Lady said Nigeria had passed through the painful stage of reforms and was now approaching a period of economic recovery and prosperity.
“As the President said, it is time for prosperity. You know, the pain of labour to birth a child is over. It is time for joy and prosperity,” she said.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu urged the women to rally behind the Tinubu/Shettima ticket, expressing confidence that the administration would not relent in implementing its policies and programmes.

She described the APC as a party committed to fulfilling its promises and called on women across the region to sustain their support for the President ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The First Lady also highlighted the interventions of her Renewed Hope Initiative, which she said had continued to empower women, young people and vulnerable Nigerians through financial assistance, skills acquisition programmes and the distribution of equipment and working tools.
A major highlight of the rally was the flag-off of the distribution of empowerment items to 5,000 women in Enugu State.
The event attracted political leaders and APC stakeholders from across the South-East, including Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State.
Also present were the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the wife of the Senate President, the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Governor of Imo State, the APC National Woman Leader and the Minister of Women Affairs.
APC candidates seeking election into the Senate, House of Representatives and state Houses of Assembly in the region also joined the mobilisation rally.
Speakers at the event expressed support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, citing the administration’s policies and its commitment to addressing the concerns of the South-East.
Earlier, the First Lady and members of the delegation visited the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, led by its chairman, Igwe Samuel Asadu.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Asadu commended Tinubu’s administration and pledged their support for the President.
The monarchs also appreciated the First Lady for her interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative, particularly programmes targeting women, young people and children.
The rally forms part of the APC’s political mobilisation efforts in the South-East as the party seeks to strengthen its support base ahead of the 2027 elections.
