Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has declared that the outcome of the 2027 general elections will be determined not by rhetoric or social media popularity but by political structure, discipline, and measurable performance in governance.
Speaking during a meeting with party stakeholders in Owerri, Uzodimma stressed that political parties seeking victory in the next electoral cycle must focus on strengthening grassroots structures and delivering tangible benefits to citizens. According to him, voters are becoming increasingly interested in governance outcomes and less influenced by empty political promises.
The governor noted that political success requires sustained engagement with communities, effective leadership, and the ability to maintain party cohesion. He argued that elections are won through years of strategic planning and consistent interaction with the electorate rather than last-minute campaigns.
Uzodimma urged party members across the country to remain united and committed to the objectives of good governance. He said leaders at all levels must prioritize development projects that directly improve the lives of citizens, adding that performance remains the strongest campaign tool available to any administration.

He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, economic initiatives, and social interventions in Imo State as examples of governance that can earn public confidence. According to him, governments that demonstrate accountability and responsiveness to the needs of the people stand a better chance of securing electoral support.
The governor also emphasized the importance of discipline within political organizations, warning that internal conflicts and factional disputes often weaken parties and reduce their chances at the polls. He called on political actors to avoid actions capable of undermining party unity.
Addressing concerns about the evolving political landscape, Uzodimma maintained that Nigeria’s democracy is maturing and that voters are increasingly evaluating leaders based on results. He said the electorate is paying closer attention to issues such as economic growth, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and security.
The governor further encouraged young politicians to embrace issue-based politics and contribute constructively to national development. He stressed that leadership should be anchored on service and commitment to the public good.
Political observers view Uzodimma’s remarks as part of the growing conversation around preparations for the 2027 elections, which many parties have already begun to strategize for despite the distance to the next national polls.
His comments come amid heightened political activities across the country, with major political parties intensifying efforts to consolidate support bases and position themselves for future electoral contests.
