Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed unwavering support for the administration’s policies and reform agenda, dismissing reports that suggested otherwise as a misrepresentation of his views.

Tuggar made the clarification in a statement issued on Sunday in Bauchi through his media aide, Abdulkadir Alkassim, following reactions to comments he made during a recent Hausa-language interview.

According to the statement, the former minister said portions of the interview had been taken out of context and inaccurately interpreted, creating a false impression of his position on the Tinubu administration and its programmes.

He stressed that he remains committed to the President’s vision for national development and fully supports ongoing efforts aimed at transforming the country’s economy, governance structures and international standing.

“Tuggar remains loyal to President Bola Tinubu and firmly believes in the administration’s transformational policies and programmes,” the statement said, adding that reports suggesting a divergence from the government’s agenda were unfounded.

The former minister noted that his comments during the interview were intended to contribute constructively to national discourse and should not be misconstrued as criticism of the President or the Federal Government.

He expressed concern over what he described as selective interpretations of his remarks, urging media organisations and commentators to verify facts and provide accurate context when reporting public statements.

According to the statement, Tuggar has consistently supported initiatives designed to address Nigeria’s economic and social challenges and remains optimistic about the country’s future under the current administration.

The clarification comes amid increased public scrutiny of comments made by political leaders and government officials as debates continue over the impact of ongoing reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration.

Political observers noted that the statement appears aimed at dispelling speculation generated by reports that emerged after the interview, some of which suggested disagreement between Tuggar and the Federal Government.

Tuggar reiterated that constructive engagement and informed discussions are essential for strengthening democracy and advancing national development, but cautioned against distortions that could mislead the public.

He also called on Nigerians to continue supporting initiatives geared toward economic growth, national unity and improved governance, emphasizing that meaningful progress requires collective effort and patience.

The former minister concluded by reaffirming his confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and his commitment to supporting policies he believes are designed to deliver long-term benefits for the country.

The statement is expected to put to rest speculation surrounding the interview and reinforce Tuggar’s position as a supporter of the administration’s reform agenda.
