Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has provided a positive update to supporters, confirming that she has undergone a successful surgical procedure to repair a fractured fibula.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward sustained the injury during Nigeria’s comprehensive 5-0 victory over Comoros in the second leg of the second-round qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Ajibade started the encounter but was forced off the pitch following a heavy collision with a Comoros defender, requiring a stretcher before being replaced by Folashade Ijamilusi. Despite her exit, the ten-time African champions cruised to a 7-0 aggregate triumph.

Taking to social media on Saturday, the 26-year-old star expressed gratitude to well-wishers for their overwhelming support since the setback.

“Surgery done. Recovery mode on. Thank you all for the love and prayers. Back soon for His greater glory,” Ajibade wrote on Instagram.

The injury halts a stellar run of form for Ajibade, who recently secured a high-profile move to PSG on a two-year contract following her leadership in guiding Nigeria to a historic tenth Women’s Africa Cup of Nations crown in 2025.

Before the international break, she had netted four goals across all competitions this season, including strikes in the UEFA Champions League and the domestic league.

While an official recovery timeline has not been definitively confirmed by medical staff, French media reports project a recovery period ranging from two months to the end of the year. Both the national team and PSG remain optimistic about her full rehabilitation and eventual return to the pitch.
