Support groups backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid have begun mobilising ahead of 2027, with the Yoruba community in the Federal Capital Territory launching a campaign initiative in Abuja.

Operating under the banner of the Yoruba FCT Forum, the group formally flagged off activities aimed at rallying support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition. The event drew community leaders, political stakeholders and youth representatives.

Organisers said the campaign is focused on highlighting the administration’s achievements and strengthening grassroots engagement within the FCT and beyond. They emphasised unity among Yoruba residents while also reaching out to other ethnic groups.

Speakers at the event praised Tinubu’s leadership, citing economic reforms, infrastructure development and efforts to stabilise governance structures. They urged members to actively participate in voter mobilisation and public awareness campaigns.

The forum also announced plans for town hall meetings, outreach programmes and media engagement to promote the administration’s policies. According to its leaders, the initiative is part of a broader nationwide strategy to consolidate support.

Political observers note that early mobilisation by support groups reflects growing momentum within the ruling party as it prepares for the next election cycle. However, they caution that broader national appeal will be crucial.

Opposition voices have criticised the early start to campaign activities, arguing that governance should remain the priority. Nonetheless, supporters insist that political organisation is necessary to sustain policy continuity.

As the 2027 election approaches, similar groups are expected to emerge across different regions, shaping the political landscape and influencing voter sentiment in the months ahead.
