Months of anxiety ended for families in Kwara State after the government confirmed the release of victims abducted during the February 3 attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.

The victims regained their freedom after spending several months in captivity, bringing relief to relatives and residents who had waited anxiously for their safe return.

The Kwara State Government confirmed the development and commended security agencies, community leaders and all stakeholders who contributed to the successful efforts that led to the victims’ release.

Although details surrounding the operation were not immediately disclosed, officials assured residents that the government remained committed to protecting lives and property across the state.

The abductions had heightened fears among residents of Kaiama Local Government Area, where communities have increasingly expressed concern over insecurity and criminal activities in recent years.

Community leaders welcomed the release, describing it as a significant relief for affected families and the entire area.

Residents gathered to celebrate the return of the victims, many expressing gratitude that the prolonged period of uncertainty had finally come to an end.

Security experts noted that successful rescue efforts often require sustained intelligence gathering, collaboration among security agencies and community support.

They urged authorities to strengthen surveillance, improve border security and expand intelligence networks to prevent future attacks in vulnerable communities.

The state government reiterated its commitment to supporting security operations while encouraging residents to continue providing useful information capable of assisting law enforcement agencies.

Civil society organisations also called for increased investment in rural security infrastructure, including better communication systems and rapid response capabilities.

Observers believe the victims’ release will restore confidence among residents, although they stressed that lasting peace would require sustained security measures and closer cooperation between government, security agencies and local communities.

The government assured citizens that efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state would continue until lasting security is achieved.
