The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Federal Ministry of Transportation have strengthened efforts to provide reliable electricity to railway infrastructure in Kano through a planned connection of the Kano Railway Station and other operational facilities to the national grid.

The partnership was formalised during a strategic stakeholders’ engagement held recently, at the TCN Kano Regional Headquarters, where participants discussed the technical and operational framework for the project.

According to TCN, the proposed grid connection is aimed at ensuring a stable and reliable power supply to support efficient railway operations in Kano and surrounding facilities under the Federal Ministry of Transportation.

Stakeholders reviewed key issues including technical requirements, implementation timelines, operational coordination, system reliability, and the responsibilities of each participating organisation. They also examined measures to ensure compliance with grid standards, network safety, and seamless integration into the national transmission network.
