The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday officially unveiled Senator Sharafadeen Ali and Adesoji Adedeji as its governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the 2027 election in Oyo State, ending days of uncertainty over the party’s ticket.
The unveiling ceremony, held in Ibadan, came less than 24 hours after the APC national headquarters in Abuja uploaded the names of the two candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal.
The event attracted party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and candidates contesting various elective positions under the APC platform, who gathered to formally present the governorship ticket to party members ahead of the 2027 poll.
The development effectively put to rest speculation over possible last-minute changes to the party’s governorship candidates, following reports of internal consultations and disputes that had fuelled uncertainty within the state chapter.

Party officials described the unveiling as a demonstration of the APC’s readiness to consolidate its campaign machinery and strengthen its bid to reclaim power in Oyo State.
The emergence of Ali and Adedeji is expected to kick-start intensified consultations and grassroots mobilisation as the party prepares for what is anticipated to be a keenly contested governorship race.
The ceremony also underscored efforts by the APC leadership to unite party members after its primary elections, with speakers calling on aspirants and supporters to close ranks in the interest of victory at the polls.
The Oyo unveiling comes amid broader developments within the APC at the national level, where the party is racing to complete the nomination process for candidates across the country before the deadline set by the electoral commission.
Reports indicate that the APC has authorised state governors to oversee the distribution and completion of INEC nomination forms, a move that has generated debate among party members in states where disputes over candidate selection remain unresolved.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, disclosed that the party received more than 700 petitions arising from its primary elections across the country, reflecting the intense competition for party tickets.
According to Morka, the immediate focus of the National Working Committee (NWC) is to ensure that all nominated candidates complete and return their forms before INEC’s July 11 submission deadline.
“They are to complete and return the forms to the party for upload to the INEC portal, so making the list public is not our priority now,” he said.
He, however, assured party members that the comprehensive list of candidates would be released after the completion of the documentation process.
With the official unveiling of Ali and Adedeji, the APC has signalled its determination to move beyond internal contests and concentrate on building momentum for the 2027 governorship election, as political activities continue to gather pace across Oyo State.
