Uzodimma

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has said the Renewed Hope initiative is central to bridging the gap between government policies and public understanding, describing it as a strategic tool for driving national renewal.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum, Uzodimma explained that the initiative is designed to translate the policies and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu into simple, relatable messages that resonate with citizens at the grassroots level.

He noted that while the administration has recorded significant milestones across sectors, there is a growing need to ensure Nigerians fully understand how these policies affect their daily lives. According to him, effective communication is critical to sustaining public trust and participation in governance.

“The essence of this initiative is to take governance closer to the people by breaking down policies into what they mean for the ordinary Nigerian,” Uzodimma said.

The governor described the programme as a movement for national renewal, aimed at strengthening civic engagement and ensuring that citizens are not left behind in the country’s reform journey. He added that the initiative would deepen awareness, counter misinformation and foster a sense of ownership among Nigerians.

Uzodimma revealed that structures have already been established across local governments and wards to support the rollout of the programme. He said coordinators have been trained at different levels to effectively communicate government programmes and mobilise communities.

He further disclosed that the initiative is building a data-driven framework to enhance political engagement and participation, noting that grassroots mobilisation remains key to sustaining democratic governance.

According to him, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors are not just political agents but advocates of national development, tasked with promoting unity and reinforcing confidence in government policies.

The governor called on political leaders, stakeholders and citizens to support the initiative, stressing that national progress requires collective effort and shared responsibility.

He maintained that Nigeria’s development depends on how well policies are understood and embraced by the people, adding that the Renewed Hope initiative provides a platform to align government actions with citizens’ expectations.

Uzodimma concluded that sustained engagement at the grassroots would not only strengthen democracy but also ensure that the benefits of governance are widely felt across the country.
