Vice President Kashim Shettima has commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for the successful coordination of the 2026 Hajj exercise, describing it as a benchmark for future pilgrimages.
Speaking after the conclusion of the exercise, Shettima praised the commission’s logistics, welfare arrangements and overall organisation, noting that Nigerian pilgrims experienced improved services compared to previous years.
He highlighted the importance of effective planning and collaboration with Saudi authorities, stating that the achievements recorded demonstrate Nigeria’s capacity to manage large-scale religious operations efficiently.

The Vice President also urged NAHCON to sustain the momentum by institutionalising best practices and addressing any minor gaps identified during the exercise.
Officials of the commission attributed the success to early preparation, enhanced coordination and the adoption of technology in managing pilgrim data and services.
Pilgrims who participated in the exercise also expressed satisfaction, citing better accommodation, transportation and medical support.
