The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced plans to engage about 22,000 supervisors for the conduct of the Senior School Certificate Examination as part of efforts to strengthen examination administration nationwide.

The council said the move forms part of a broader strategy to improve the credibility, efficiency, and security of its examination processes. Officials explained that the additional supervisors would help ensure proper monitoring of examination centers across the country.

Speaking on preparations for the examination, NECO management disclosed that the council has significantly expanded its operational capacity to accommodate increasing candidate enrollment and evolving examination requirements.

According to the council, the recruitment and deployment of supervisors will enhance compliance with examination regulations and reduce opportunities for malpractice. It added that supervisors will undergo training designed to equip them with the skills required for effective monitoring and reporting.

NECO noted that technological innovations are also being introduced to strengthen examination management. These measures include improved data processing systems and enhanced coordination mechanisms aimed at ensuring smooth conduct of examinations.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward maintaining the integrity of public examinations. They argued that effective supervision remains critical to promoting fairness and credibility within the education system.

The council further assured candidates, parents, and schools that adequate arrangements have been made for the timely distribution of examination materials and efficient handling of logistics.

Officials emphasized that maintaining high standards remains a top priority, stressing that examination malpractice undermines educational development and public confidence in assessment systems.

The planned deployment of 22,000 supervisors is expected to cover thousands of examination centers nationwide, making it one of the largest examination monitoring operations undertaken by the council in recent years.

As preparations continue, NECO has called on schools, teachers, candidates, and parents to support efforts aimed at ensuring a smooth and credible examination process. The council expressed confidence that the measures being implemented will contribute to improved examination outcomes and reinforce trust in the nation’s educational assessment framework.
