President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted his nomination as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2027 election, pledging to consolidate ongoing reforms and place Nigeria on what he described as an “irreversible path” to economic growth and stability.

Speaking on Sunday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, the President said his re-nomination reflects both confidence in his administration and a collective commitment to sustain progress recorded since 2023.

“I accept, with humility and profound gratitude, the nomination of our great party,” Tinubu declared, promising renewed determination to address Nigeria’s economic, security, and governance challenges.

He highlighted key achievements of his administration, including structural economic reforms, improved revenue generation, and efforts to stabilise the naira amid global pressures. Tinubu said over N282 billion has been disbursed under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, benefiting more than 1.5 million students, while power sector reforms have increased generation levels and reduced metering gaps.

The President also pointed to infrastructure expansion across transportation, energy, and housing, alongside renewed investor confidence in the oil and gas sector. He maintained that policy decisions such as fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate reforms were necessary to reposition the economy.

Despite these gains, Tinubu acknowledged ongoing hardships, including rising living costs and security concerns in parts of the country. He assured Nigerians that his administration is strengthening security architecture and supporting constitutional amendments to enable state policing.

“We do not dismiss these concerns; we understand them and govern with honesty and action,” he said.

Calling for unity across political and regional lines, Tinubu urged Nigerians to see the 2027 election as a test of democratic maturity rather than a contest of personalities.

He reaffirmed his vision of a secure, inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria, promising policies that support workers, youth, farmers, and businesses.

“With another four years of disciplined focus and national cooperation, we will consolidate our gains and build a stronger nation,” Tinubu said.
